May 26-28th – Memorial Weekend at Gibeault’s Place in Moore, Id – Field Trips TBA – Learning Day activities: silver smithing by Kathy Moedl, cabochon by Emily Thomas, wire wrapping by Gloria Gibeault, crystal wire wrapping for kids by Rita Cooper, and an opal inlay technique by Inga Sager

June 24th – Little Wood Reservoir (near Carey, Id) – Arno Metting

July 1st – Pogo Claim, Mt Borah Area – Paul Fullmer

  • June 21: There will be a trip to the Blue Forest, about 55 miles to the site
  • June 22: A trip to a fossil fish quarry. It is a fee site

    Broadway and leave promptly at 7:00am

  • Urban Rockhounding will start at 10 a.m. and go till the evening. You can find Grave Yard Point Plume, Regency Rose, Prudent Man, Davis Creek Rainbow, Priday Plume, Pink Limb Cast and much more.
Sept 18 - 19, Challis Bench and Lime Creek
  • Camping at Challis Hot Springs (make your reservations now sites are already filling up).
  • Meet up at site #7 at the hot springs, leave at 9:00AM
  • Colorful jasper

Field Trips 2020 (TENTATIVE )

Field Trips: Because we've not had meetings where you could sign up for field trips, it is absolutely necessary for you to contact the wagon master beforehand if you wish to go on their field trip. If no one contacts the wagonmaster, the field trip might be canceled.

Send an email through the website or a message through the Facebook page to get contact information. If you leave a message, give your name and phone number so you can be contacted with any last minute changes.

June 6, Red Hills

June 27, Wonderstone

  • Meet at the Dubois rest stop just off the interstate and leaving the rest stop at 9:00 sharp
July 11, Agate Mountain
  • Lead by Terry Ryan
  • Meet at the campground near Exit 44, HWY 324, just past the Clark Canyon dam in Montana at 9:00 AM sharp
July 16 – 19, Crystal Park
  • Lead by Rita Cooper
  • Camping at Price Creek Campground
  • Day Trippers meet at the campground group camp site by 10:00 AM.
  • You will need a screen, shovel, bug spray and water. There is a $5 per vehicle charge for parking
July 25 -26, Little Wood Reservoir by Carey
  • Lead by Jeff Ring
  • Day trippers meet in the Little Wood Reservoir parking lot by 10:00 AM
  • Clear agates great for tumbling
August 15-16, Lime Creek
  • Lead by Jim Magnan
  • Camping at Challis Hot Springs
  • Day trip on Saturday August 15 meet at the Hot Springs by 9:30 AM
